Is Air Conditioning advisable in Kitchens?
As naïve or as thoughtful it may seem, this is actually a dilemma which many families face while they set-up their dream home. It seems like why would one install an AC in their kitchen instead of the ever so popular combination of exhaust fan and electric chimney? Surely, it seems like a no-brainer to install an AC in the kitchen as a lot of energy will be wasted in this pursuit; but there are many kitchens world over where AC in kitchen is a normal phenomenon.
There are many reasons why one shouldn’t install AC in the kitchen, as it is a place where fire resides and constantly under hot conditions. There’s a whole big range of appliances which constantly gives out heat like the fridge and microwave combined with the heat of ceilings and walls. Moreover the burning gas on the stove further increases the mercury levels of the thermometer making the kitchen somewhat like a furnace.
But, these are all the reasons which make AC moreover a necessity rather a desire in the kitchen. Due to the entire heat released by various appliances and the release of carbon with other toxic chemicals, there is a need of fresh oxygen which should be introduced in the kitchen as quickly as possible. This is possible with the help of proper air conditioning. Split ACs cannot be much effective here as they fail to bring in fresh air quickly. Moreover, a window AC is perfect under such circumstances which ensure fresh air circulation throughout the kitchen in shortest possible time. In Southern US and Dallas air conditioning in kitchen is a common scenario due to the hot and humid conditions there which makes the kitchen the most hated and heated up place.
But despite the entire discussion, the question still stands strong whether air conditioning is advisable in kitchen. The solution is to combine AC with chimney which will assure that the levels of hot air and carbon dioxide is on the minimalistic side.
